2021 marked the 65th anniversary of the first single from The Everly Brothers (âKeep A Lovinâ Me”, 1956). This new compilation is curated by Tom Pettyâs daughter Adria Petty in conjunction with Don Everly and Phil Everlyâs widow, with the objective of reminding the world of the greatness of the Everly Brothers, and introducing them to a new, younger audience. While it does include some hits (eg: âCathyâs Clown” – their biggest selling single), this isnât a Greatest Hits collection, and it highlights many of the lesser-known songs that are as good as the well-known hits. With seventeen tracks, and a fresh, contemporary approach to the cover art, this baby blue vinyl release for Record Store Day seeks to garner a new assessment of the band by musicians, critics and media, and appeal to a broader audience, some of them who may never have heard of the Everly Brothers.
